A Nigerian man, Inibehe Effiong has taken to Social media to lament what he termed annoying calls from GOTV to renew his subscription, calling on relevant Nigerian authority to do the needful.
He wrote:
GOTV has been a nuisance to me with their repeated, annoying and endless calls. Yesterday, their customer service representatives called me three times to tell me that one of my GOTV subscription has expired.
Absolute nonsense.
How is it their business whether I have recharged my GOTV or not? This morning again, despite that I did warned them yesterday not to disturb me again, one unfortunate agent of GOTV called me again.
I have three GOTV and two DSTV cables which are installed in my office and homes in Lagos and Uyo.
Why should I subscribe all the five accounts every month when I do not normally use or access all of them at the same time? I am tired of enduring their ceaseless and annoying calls. If they keep calling and harassing me to ask why I have not renewed my subscription, I will consider taking a legal action against them.
They are invading my privacy.
Why should we be paying for services that we’re not using? It is supposed to be pay as you go, so that subscribers can have value for their subscriptions.
But DSTV and GOTV are exploiting Nigerians by forcing us to subscribe monthly, periodic and time bound packages which are subject to expiration whether one uses them or not.
This nonsense is happening because we have very irresponsible and corrupt people in government in Nigeria who are only after their selfish interests.
