Tragedy struck in Lagos as a police operation targeting a notorious kidnapping syndicate culminated in a deadly shootout, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals, including a prominent figure from the Nollywood industry.
Prince Henry Ode, a rising actor based in Port Harcourt, was suspected to be involved in the criminal activities of the gang.
The Lagos State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner Adegoke Fayoade, confirmed that the operation took place in the Ladipo area of Lagos following weeks of intensive intelligence gathering.
The gang, known for its audacious kidnappings of affluent individuals, was reportedly planning another high-profile abduction when the police intervened.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, it was revealed that the police had received credible information about the gang’s activities two weeks prior to the operation.
This led to the deployment of tactical teams who engaged the kidnappers in a fierce confrontation.
The shootout resulted in the deaths of nine suspects, among them Prince Henry Ode, who was identified not only as an actor but also allegedly involved in the criminal operations of the gang. The police recovered firearms and other incriminating evidence from the scene.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Nollywood community, with colleagues of Prince Henry expressing disbelief and sadness over his involvement in such activities. Known for his promising career in the film industry, his sudden demise under such circumstances has left many in mourning.

The gang leader, alleged to have four wives each residing in their own mansion, symbolizing his wealth accrued from criminal activities, has also been targeted in the ongoing police operations.
