The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced a further extension of the grace period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement, shifting the deadline to 12 August 2025.
The decision, approved by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, was confirmed in a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, from the Force Headquarters.
According to the statement, the extension follows widespread concerns and feedback from the public over the reactivation of the digital Tinted Glass Permit application process. The NPF said it is listening to citizens and making efforts to ensure that the procedure is transparent, accessible, and user-friendly for all Nigerians.
“This decision underscores our commitment to citizen-focused policing,” the statement read. “The concerns raised by the public have not gone unnoticed and are actively informing our ongoing review and improvement of the process.”
The police said the grace period extension will allow for additional upgrades to both the physical and digital application systems. These enhancements include simplified procedures, better verification mechanisms, and improved access to minimise delays and prevent inconvenience to applicants.

Citizens are urged to report any cases of extortion, unauthorised charges, or irregularities during application or biometric capture to the appropriate authorities.
