The Federated Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has hailed the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, for his visionary leadership and sweeping reforms that have redefined the state’s sports landscape.
A delegation from the Chapel, led by its Chairperson, Mercy Onyenweli, paid a courtesy visit to Enabulele at his Benin City office on Monday. During the visit, Onyenweli lauded the Chairman for “repositioning sports in Edo State” through an inclusive approach that goes beyond football.
“Before now, the only sports headlines from the Commission were about Bendel Insurance FC. But today, under your proactive leadership, Edo has witnessed growth across several sporting disciplines, making the state proud once again,” Onyenweli said.
She also commended the Commission’s renewed emphasis on grassroots sports development, describing it as a major step toward nurturing local talent and sustaining Edo’s sporting legacy.
Onyenweli further applauded the Commission’s media team, led by Media Aide Mr. Edoko Wilson Edoko, for effectively publicising the Commission’s activities. “We feel like part of the Commission through the consistent reports and updates your team provides,” she added.
Explaining the structure of the Federated Chapel, Onyenweli noted that it is one of sixteen under the NUJ Edo State Council, comprising journalists from broadcast, print, and online media. She reaffirmed the Chapel’s commitment to strengthening its collaboration with the Sports Commission.
Responding on behalf of the Executive Chairman, the Executive Director representing Edo North, Hon. Frank Ilaboya, expressed appreciation to the Chapel for its continuous support and objective reportage.
“We appreciate your professionalism and partnership. The Commission remains committed to deepening collaboration with the media as we continue building a vibrant sports ecosystem in Edo State,” Ilaboya said.
The visit ended with both parties pledging to sustain their partnership in promoting sports development and positive media engagement across the state.
