Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Independent Television and Radio Chapel have named Professor Akhalufo Sylvanus Okogbenin, Chief Medical Director (CMD), Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH) as The Most Committed Government Appointee of the year. This was contained in an award presented to the CMD during the climax of the Union’s Press Week which took place at Gloria Garden, Commercial Avenue, Benin City.
While presenting the award, the chairman of the chapel, Comrade Best Mbiere said the chapel was moved to present the award to Professor Okogbenin in recognition of his immeasurable contribution towards the growth of the medical profession as well as your pedigree, love for humanity and your diligent style of service.
“ your selfless and irrepressible commitment towards Human Capital Development, Staff and Boss relationship, accessibility by people who don’t even know you as a person and your personal efforts to ensure that there is equity and justice in the government organization you are currently serving, truly stands you out” she said.
Responding, the CMD expressed appreciation to God for giving him the opportunity, wisdom and strength to lead ISTH to the height it has attained and the organizers for recognizing his contributions to the society in particular and humanity in general.
The event attracted dignitaries from both government and private sectors.
