A 75-year-old woman was rescued from the clutches of kidnappers in Ondo State after enduring a traumatic ordeal at the hands of her abductors. The victim was accosted by three men while returning home from her farm in Ifira Akoko, located in the Akoko South-East Local Government Area of the State.
According to the woman, she was approached by the men while walking home on a sunny afternoon. “I was on my way back from the farm that fateful sunny day after work, when I saw three men approaching me. As soon as they saw me, they grabbed my hands and dragged me into the bush. The next thing I knew was one of them forcefully removing my clothes and penetrating me.” she recounted tearfully.
The victim explained that she was left in a state of confusion following the attack, and had no clear memory of how she ended up being rescued. “All I know is that I was crying out, and then I saw Amotekun officers coming to my aid,” she said, referring to the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as the Amotekun Corps, who found and freed her from the kidnappers’ hideout.
The Amotekun Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the rescue, stating that the victim was swiftly returned to safety. “The suspects are in our custody and will face legal action once the investigation is complete,” he added.
In a separate development, the security outfit also paraded individuals linked to a recent kidnapping incident on the Akure–Owo highway, where 18 passengers were abducted. One of the victims of this earlier kidnapping recounted her own harrowing experience, describing how she was forcefully dragged into the bush by one of the captors, a man identified as Fulani, who then raped her.
The Amotekun Corps has promised swift justice for all those involved in these appalling crimes, with the authorities working tirelessly to ensure that the suspects are held accountable. The community has been left shaken by these incidents, as residents call for stronger security measures to prevent further attacks.
