Friends, associates and sympathisers gathered at the family compound of the Attakhirus to witness the burial of the oldest mallam in Avhiawu kingdom, Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government of Edo State, Alhaji Attakhiru Bagudu Okhakumhe whose remains was committed to mother earth on Sunday 5th, September, 2021.
An industrialist, farmer and businessman, Alhaji Attakhiru Bagudu died on Sunday morning same day he was buried according to Islamic rite.
A family source said that, the late Mallam died at home after a brief illness.
Alhaji Attakhiru Bagudu is survived by many wives, children and grand children including Hon. Muritala Attakhiru Okhakhume and Comrade Attakhiru Abdulganiyu who is the legislative aide on Media and Publicity to the member representing Etsako Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Johnson Egwakhide Oghuma.
In his message at the burial site, Sheik AbdulSamiu Samiullahi admonished all present to live a life worthy of emulation and always be conscious of death because it is a price every soul must pay.
He said: “We all should prepare for death. No matter the position you hold today, death will surely come at the end. So, do not use your position, wealth or knowledge to oppress your fellow human being.”
He prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed and Allah’s forgiveness of his shortcomings.
One of the children of the deceased, Comrade Attakhiru Ganiyu described him as a role model who gave his all to cater for and support his family.
