…as Edo North PDP inaugurates campaign committees
Edo State Deputy Governor, Engr Marvellous Godwins Omobayo, has enjoined leaders and members of PDP Edo North Senatorial District to mobilise the people for the upcoming INEC voters registration exercise in respect of the September 21 governorship election.
The Deputy Governor gave the charge during the inauguration of the party’s campaign management committees in the senatorial district, comprising Etsako, Owan and Akoko-Edo Federal Constituencies.
Omobayo’s message at the various venues of the exercise said the Asue lghodalo/Osarodion Ogie ticket in the upcoming election was the best for the people of Edo State.
According to him, the combination of the PDP candidate and his running mate was a testament to integrity, experience and excellence in public service.
The Deputy Governor reiterated that Asue lghodalo was the candidate to beat, noting that his election was the only guarantee to consolidate the gains of the Obaseki-led administration.
In a chat with newsmen, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, Chairman, PDP Edo North Elders Forum, said the leadership of the party was doing everything possible to ensure victory for the PDP at the polls.
He stated that the inauguration of the campaign management committee in Etsako East, Etsako Central, Etsako West, Akoko-Edo Owan East and West Local Government Areas, was essentially to take the PDP message of continuity and consolidation to the grassroots.
Oghiadomhe noted that Edo North leaders were the first to lend their support for the zoning of the PDP governorship ticket to Edo Central. He congratulated members of the campaign committees and charged them to hit the ground running by working assiduously for the victory of the party.
He condemned in very strong terms, the anti-party activities of some persons/groups who sabotaged the electoral fortunes of PDP in previous elections, asserting that the party was now more united and stronger than before.
Other leaders of Edo North, Senator Victor Oyofo, Senator Yisa Braimoh and Senator Francis Alimikhena amongst others, collectively resolved to work together for the victory of PDP in the upcoming governorship election in the State.
They explained that their aim of working for the victory of PDP in the election was to prevent retrogression in the State.
While denouncing legacy group, the leaders were of the opinion that differences among party leaders could be addressed without allowing them to degenerate to the extent of working against the party.
They further advised members of the party to unite for Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie in their own interest and for the good of Edo State, urging them not to listen to members whose actions are at variance with the position of the party as such members were out to pursue their selfish ambitions.
They described any member working against the interest of the party as selfish and greedy because their actions were geared towards personal gains.
They asked the gathering whether the leaders of the party who worked against the party in the last election were responsible for their bills or payment of school fees for their children, pointing out that the leaders were only concerned about their selfish ambitions and as such, should not listen to them.
The inauguration attracted Edo North bigwigs of the party, including Honourable Johnson Abolagba, Honourable Pascal Ogbome, Honourable Jimoh Ijegbai, serving council chairmen, amongst other notable personalities.
