Ossiomo Shutdown: Governor Okpebholo Acts Wisely While Opposition Spins Lies

The recent Ossiomo Power shutdown has given the opposition another excuse to blame Governor Monday Okpebholo. But the facts tell a different story.

Ossiomo is a private company, not owned by Edo State. Government House alone was paying nearly ₦194 million monthly under the previous administration — a clear sign of waste.

Governor Okpebholo acted decisively. When Ossiomo refused to review their charges, he switched Government House to BEDC Band A in January 2025. Now, the same electricity costs about ₦46 million monthly, saving Edo ₦148 million every month.

The opposition knows these facts but prefers to hide the truth. Ossiomo’s shutdown is not the governor’s fault — it’s a result of prior mismanagement.

This is just one example of shady deals from the previous administration. Many so-called achievements were illusions, leaving Edo people with a false impression of what the state owned or controlled.

Governor Okpebholo’s actions show prudence, transparency, and commitment. Edo deserves honesty, not propaganda.
