The Osun Police Command has confirmed the successful rescue of two individuals trapped under a collapsed building in the Sabo Area of Osogbo. SP Yemisi Opalola, the Police Spokesperson in Osun, shared this information in a statement issued in Osogbo on Sunday.
According to Opalola, the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. when an uncompleted storey building unexpectedly gave way, trapping the victims under its debris. The police and emergency response teams were promptly dispatched to the scene upon receiving the distress call.
“At about 8:30 a.m. today, an uncompleted storey building in the Sabo Area of Osogbo collapsed, leading to the unfortunate entrapment of two individuals. Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of our rescue teams, we were able to safely extricate the victims from the rubble,” Opalola stated.
The identities of the rescued individuals have not been disclosed, but they were immediately provided with necessary medical attention and transported to a nearby hospital. Their current conditions are stable, according to medical reports.
The cause of the collapse is still under investigation, with authorities urging the public to stay away from the site to avoid further incidents. In the meantime, safety inspections of similar structures in the area have been intensified to prevent future occurrences.
