Outrage as NEXIT Beneficiaries protest poorly-served refreshment in Edo

Beneficiaries of the NEXIT programme in Edo State specifically Etsako West Local Government have protested what they called a poorly-served refreshment given to them on Thursday at the Centre calling on the Federal Government to sanction the contractor handling the project.

The beneficiaries are the exited Batches A&B of the NPower programme who where disengaged in June and July 2020 respectively.

They are being trained on entrepreneurship programme for five days which began on 14th through 18th of March, 2022 to fulfill the promise made by the Humanitarian Affairs Minister, Sadiya Farouq as part of the exit strategy put in place by her Ministry for the NPower volunteers.

Uptown Press NG learnt that the beneficiaries who were visibly angry raised the alarm on Thursday in Auchi and protested what some of them called the dog food being supplied to them in the name of Federal Government’s Feeding for the scheme.

According to them the Federal Government in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) set up the programme to empower the exited N-Power beneficiaries and budgeted the sum of #2,500 for feeding of each beneficiaries for five days.

They called on relevant authorities to prosecute the contractor for alleged corruption.

Representative of the food vendor declined comment when this medium reached out for comment.
