A youth pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor (Dr) Bola Abiodun, has come under heavy criticism after allegedly placing a death curse on a woman during a heated exchange on social media platform X.

The controversy erupted after the woman, identified as Tomisin, addressed the cleric as “Mr Abiodun” during an online conversation. The title reportedly angered the pastor, who warned her against addressing him in that manner. When she repeated it, he allegedly responded with a shocking outburst.

According to screenshots circulating online, the pastor declared that Tomisin would die in her sleep that same night. He reportedly went further to say that if she woke up alive, then God had not called him, using unprintable words to describe himself. In another disturbing remark, he allegedly said her “burial rice would be sweet to eat.”

The statements sparked outrage across social media, with many users condemning what they described as reckless, unchristian and dangerous conduct from a religious leader.

However, events took a different turn on Wednesday morning as Tomisin was confirmed to be alive and in good health, directly contradicting the pastor’s pronouncement.

Further details obtained by Uptown Press indicate that several complaints have since been lodged with the RCCG, calling on the church leadership to investigate the incident and take appropriate disciplinary action.

As of the time of filing this report, the church had yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
