According to multiple sources, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake which was immediately followed by 4.9 magnitude earthquake stroked approximately 48 miles (77km) south-west of Marrakesh in Morocco with a population of about 400,000.
Local news outlet report that, the earthquake struck shortly after 11;00PM on Friday, September 8, 2023. No fewer than 2,122 people have been reportedly killed in the incident, 2,421 are injured.
A desperate search continues for residents trapped beneath rubbles on Monday as buildings and community became completely flattened. Rescue teams are struggling to reach remote villages in the High Atlas Mountains, south of Marrakesh, believe to be one of the most-affected areas.
