Patrick Ochoga, the Edo State correspondent for Leadership newspaper, has been elected chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents Chapel in the State.
Ochoga secured the position following a keenly contested election held on Wednesday at the Correspondents Chapel secretariat, where he triumphed over his rival, Mr. Micheal Egbejule of The Guardian newspaper.
This victory is a testament to the trust and confidence his colleagues have in his leadership abilities and his unwavering commitment to advancing the practice of journalism in Edo State.
With over 15 years of distinguished experience in journalism and media relations, Ochoga has made notable contributions to the Nigerian media landscape. He is widely recognised for his integrity and professionalism in his role at Leadership newspaper.
Ochoga’s achievements include receiving the prestigious Edo Icon Award in 2023, which highlights his significant impact within the local media community.
Ochoga’s career has also taken him abroad, where he coordinated media activities for the Nigeria Conference of Speakers Forum in Canada in 2022, further enhancing his reputation on the international stage.
A graduate of the University of Jos, Ochoga also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from the University of Maiduguri, underscoring his commitment to both professional development and academic excellence.
As he assumes this new leadership role, Ochoga is expected to continue advocating for the welfare of journalists in Edo State, while further strengthening the practice of ethical journalism.
