Police arrest Inter-state Fraudsters in Abia State

In a commendable display of community vigilance, two suspected fraudsters were apprehended in Okwu Olokoro while attempting to scam a potential victim.
The suspects, Uche Harrison, 42, and Lucky Nwohu, whose age remains undisclosed, are reportedly from Ntigha, Isiala Ngwa North LGA of Abia State.

The incident occurred on Saturday, August 3, during an environmental sanitation exercise at the village’s market square. The community’s youths, who were actively participating in the sanitation exercise, noticed the suspicious activities of the duo and acted swiftly to intercept them. The youths seized the suspects’ operational motorcycle and detained them for further questioning.

During the interrogation, Harrison and Nwohu admitted to defrauding a previous victim, Mrs. Okwuchi Ihezie from Ihete Uboma, Imo State. According to their confession, the fraudsters had scammed Mrs. Ihezie out of N350,000 two months ago by selling her a fake business idea.

Upon learning about the suspects’ capture, Mrs. Ihezie traveled to Okwu Olokoro to recount her ordeal to the community. Her testimony corroborated the confessions of Harrison and Nwohu, further implicating them in the fraudulent activity.

The Chairman of Okwu community, Mr. Bartholomew Nwaeze, handed the suspects over to the Zone 9 Command of the Nigerian Police in Umuahia. In a stern statement, Nwaeze warned criminals to stay away from Okwu Olokoro, emphasizing the community’s commitment to maintaining law and order.

The apprehension of these fraudsters highlights the importance of community vigilance and cooperation in combating crime. The Okwu Olokoro community’s swift action serves as a warning to other potential criminals and reinforces the community’s resolve to protect its members from fraudulent activities.
