The police in Anambra State have arrested a 35-year-old man, identified as Chukwudalu Ezeani, for allegedly killing his cousin and secretly burying the body in his compound.
According to police authorities, the suspect reportedly committed the crime on August 1, 2025, at about 8:00 p.m. in Afube village, Amichi, located in Nnewi South Local Government Area.
Preliminary investigations revealed that after allegedly killing the victim, identified as Chinedu Ezeani, the suspect buried the corpse in a shallow grave within his residence, concealing the incident for nearly eight months.
The case initially surfaced as a missing person report filed at the Amichi Police Station. However, following credible intelligence, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) revisited the matter, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and guided police operatives to the burial site, where the decomposing body was exhumed.
Police authorities said the remains have been deposited for forensic examination, while the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice and urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
