Police Vow to Rescue Abducted Officer, Daughter as Edo Intensifies Anti-Kidnap Operations

Authorities in Edo State have pledged to secure the safe return of a police officer and his daughter abducted earlier this month, as security agencies intensify efforts to combat rising kidnapping incidents across the state.

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, gave the assurance on Friday while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Benin City, stating that coordinated operations are already underway to rescue the victims unharmed.

The officer and his daughter were reportedly kidnapped on February 8, in an incident that has heightened public concern over security in the state.

Agbonika maintained that the police command is fully committed to resolving the situation, although he declined to provide specific operational details, citing security considerations.

“We are working tirelessly to ensure that the victims are rescued safely,” he said, assuring residents that the command remains on top of the situation.

The Commissioner also disclosed that two other individuals abducted on the same day in Makeke, Akoko Edo Local Government Area, are part of ongoing rescue efforts.

He reiterated that all available resources have been deployed to track down the perpetrators and secure the release of the victims, while urging members of the public to remain calm and support security agencies with credible information.

The police boss further emphasised the importance of community cooperation in tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities, assuring that the command will continue to strengthen surveillance and intelligence gathering across the State.
