A former presidential aspirant of the Labour Party, Mr. Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, popularly known as Fadojoe, has advised Mr. Peter Obi to take urgent action in handling the issue of division in the party. Fadojoe urged Mr. Obi to focus on reuniting and rebuilding the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. He warned that failure to address the issue could result in another fatal defeat in the future.
Fadojoe made the statement during a broadcast on his official YouTube channel, where he emphasized the need for Mr. Obi to take action before it’s too late. He called on Mr. Obi to concentrate on resolving the issue of warring factions within the party and preparing for the upcoming elections. Fadojoe believes that the Labour Party can take over power by seizing the presidency, having a majority in the National Assembly, and getting more governorship positions.
He, however, cautioned that ignoring his advice could result in chasing the wind, which would ultimately lead to defeat in the elections. Fadojoe recounted that he had warned the Labour Party and Mr. Peter Obi before the 2023 presidential election about potential loopholes that could affect their victory. Despite the warning, they ignored his advice, and the party lost at the tribunal.
Fadojoe lamented that the system in Nigeria is so programmed that once a person has taken over power as the president, it is difficult for the court to remove him no matter the situation. He appealed to the National Assembly to amend the Electoral Act to conclude all election petition cases before the swearing-in of elected officials, to strengthen the judges to give their verdict without fear or favor.
Fadojoe advised Mr. Peter Obi to let go of the issue of going to the Supreme Court and focus on resolving the Julius Aburre Vs Lamidi Apapa saga that has divided the party into two. He hopes that his advice will not fall on deaf ears like before, as he stressed that he and his team had invested so much in reviving and rebuilding the Labour Party.
