Railway: Nigerian governor considers collaboration with China

The Governor of Niger State is considering a potential partnership with China in the railway sector. The governor, Umaru Bago, welcomed a delegation from the China Railway Corporation in Minna, Niger State. Famed for their expertise in building China’s vast railway system, the corporation engaged in talks to explore a collaboration in setting up a railway network spanning across three geopolitical zones within the state and reaching up to Abuja.

During the meeting, discussions also covered the possibility of partnering in different areas such as agriculture, housing, and the development of airline hangars and the Cango terminal at Bola Tinubu International Airport Minna. To further strengthen this cooperation, the delegation will be preparing a Concept Note and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to formalize a business collaboration with the state.

The China Exim Bank is expected to provide funds for the ambitious project, which represents a noteworthy advancement in enhancing transportation infrastructure and fostering economic growth in Niger State.
