Senator Neda Imasuen has commended the Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Desmond Amadin Enabulele, on the completion of his first year in office, describing the milestone as a testament to purposeful leadership and a clear strategic vision for sports development in the state.
In a congratulatory message, the senator representing Edo South Senatorial District noted that the Commission had, within a year, recorded significant progress in sports administration, strengthened professionalism, and restored confidence among athletes, administrators and key stakeholders across multiple sporting disciplines.
Senator Imasuen praised what he described as a renewed sense of direction under Enabulele’s leadership, saying the Commission’s reforms had begun to reposition Edo State as a credible hub for sports excellence.
He particularly applauded the strong emphasis on grassroots sports development, capacity building and youth engagement, stressing that these initiatives were critical to nurturing future champions and sustaining long-term growth in the sector.
According to the senator, the Commission’s sustained support for football development—through organised competitions, talent identification programmes, institutional partnerships and effective administrative backing—has been especially impactful, helping to deepen participation and raise standards at the community level.
Imasuen added that the approach adopted by the Sports Commission has reinforced sports as a powerful tool for unity, empowerment and social development, especially among young people across Edo State.
He expressed confidence that, with continued focus and stakeholder collaboration, the Enabulele-led Commission would build on its early gains and further elevate Edo State’s standing on the national sports scene.
