Senator Neda Imasuen, who represents Edo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo on his Supreme Court victory, describing it as a “resounding and well-deserved” win that marks the end of the prolonged legal battle over the Edo State governorship election.

The apex court, in a unanimous judgment delivered on Thursday, dismissed the petition challenging the governor’s election, ruling that the case lacked merit and failed to establish any substantial claims. The verdict effectively affirms Okpebholo’s mandate and closes the chapter on months of post-election litigation.

In a statement issued shortly after the judgment, Senator Imasuen said the ruling not only upheld the will of the people but also strengthened public confidence in the judiciary and the democratic process.

“This victory is not just personal to Governor Okpebholo but a triumph for all Edo people who yearn for peace, stability, and purposeful leadership,” he said. “The time for politicking is over. Now is the time for unity, healing, and rebuilding trust in our democratic institutions.”

Senator Imasuen reaffirmed his readiness to work closely with Governor Okpebholo to bring development to Edo South and the entire state, highlighting areas such as infrastructure, education, security, youth empowerment, and economic revitalisation as top priorities.

“This is a moment of renewal,” he added. “I call on all well-meaning sons and daughters of Edo to rally behind the governor as he steers the affairs of our State towards a brighter future.”
