Distinguished Senator Neda Imasuen, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, played host to a high-profile delegation from the RODI Foundation at the National Assembly on Friday. The courtesy visit, which took place in his office, was led by Nollywood veteran Onuwura Agility and featured a roll call of celebrated entertainment icons including Paul Obazele, Patience Ozokwor (popularly known as Mama G), and Dokpesi Regina.
The delegation visited to formally brief Senator Imasuen on the forthcoming RODI Gala Night—an annual event of national significance aimed at celebrating excellence in the sports, music, and film industries. The gala, the team explained, serves not only as a platform to recognise legends and spotlight emerging talents but also as an initiative to advocate for the welfare and structured retirement support for industry veterans.
Speaking during the engagement, Onuwura Agility expressed his appreciation for the Senator’s longstanding support of creative endeavours and appealed for further backing to ensure the success of this year’s gala. “The RODI Gala Night is more than an event—it is a movement to preserve and promote the cultural legacy of Nigeria through the acknowledgement of those who have shaped our national identity,” Agility stated.
In his response, Senator Imasuen commended the RODI Foundation for its vision and reaffirmed his commitment to the advancement of Nigeria’s creative sectors. “I applaud your efforts to institutionalise support for our cultural icons,” he said. “It is initiatives like these that not only celebrate our rich creative heritage but also provide a sustainable framework for the wellbeing of those who have given so much to our national story.”
The RODI Gala Night, which has grown into one of Nigeria’s most anticipated cultural events, is expected to attract dignitaries, entertainers, policymakers, and young creatives from across the country. Organisers say this year’s edition will place particular emphasis on bridging the generational gap between veterans and emerging stars while launching new welfare schemes for retired artists and sports figures.
