Senator representing Edo South senatorial district, Neda Imasuen, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Ehigiator Arase, describing his passing as a painful loss to Edo State and the nation at large.
In a heartfelt tribute, Senator Imasuen described the late Arase as a quintessential officer who served with uncommon dedication, professionalism and honour, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire both the Nigeria Police Force and society.
“During his tenure as Inspector-General of Police, he introduced bold reforms that strengthened the Force, from the establishment of the Complaint Response Unit to his tireless defence of citizens’ rights. His name became synonymous with courage, professionalism and visionary leadership. His death is not only the close of a glorious chapter but a moment of collective grief for all Nigerians,” Imasuen said.
The senator also highlighted Arase’s philanthropic strides through the Solomon Ehigiator Arase Foundation (SEAF), which offered scholarships to brilliant but indigent students, particularly children of fallen police officers.
“On behalf of the good people of Edo South, I extend heartfelt condolences to the family of our departed son. We share in your pain and pray that Almighty God grants you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Edo and Nigerians have lost an officer and a gentleman,” he added.
Arase, remembered for his bold reforms and humanitarian contributions, is widely regarded as one of the finest officers to have served the Nigeria Police Force.
