Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Senator representing Edo South, Neda Imasuen, has facilitated a free and seamless National Identity Number (NIN) registration exercise across all seven local government areas of the senatorial district.
A statement by his Media Aide, Moshood Karim on Saturday explains that, the initiative, fully sponsored by the lawmaker, is aimed at removing barriers for new and prospective members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly those seeking to participate in the party’s ongoing e-membership registration. By easing access to NIN enrolment, the senator hopes to broaden political participation and strengthen grassroots engagement ahead of the next electoral cycle.
According to details of the programme, residents of Oredo Local Government Area can obtain their NIN free of charge at the APC Oredo Secretariat, No. 74 Wire Road, on January 24, 2026, or at the NIN centre opposite the Oba’s Palace on Ring Road.
In Ovia North East, enrolment will take place at 29 Oluku–Lagos Road, opposite Brons Royal by Car Wash, Oluku, Benin. For Orhionmwon Local Government Area, the designated centre is 3 Old Benin–Asaba Road, Abudu, with registration scheduled for January 24 and 25, 2026.
Residents of Uhunmwode are to register at Eyean Health Centre from 9am, while those in Egor Local Government Area can access the service at Alile House, No. 1 Medical Store Road, immediately after the Psychiatric Hospital.
The exercise is closely linked to the APC’s digital membership drive, which requires detailed personal information, including NIN, full names, contact details, date of birth, gender, marital status, address, occupation, religion, state, local government, ward, polling unit and INEC Voter Identification Number (VIN).
Supporters of the initiative say it reflects a growing emphasis on inclusiveness and political mobilisation at the grassroots, particularly in communities where access to identity registration has been a persistent challenge.
With political activities already gaining momentum ahead of 2027, observers note that the free NIN registration scheme places Senator Imasuen at the centre of early mobilisation efforts in Edo South, as parties intensify preparations for the next general elections.
Beneficiaries of the initiative expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for the opportunity and prayed for God’s grace and blessings upon him.
