The Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Neda Imasuen, is set to be honoured with the Award for Excellence in Grassroots Representation at the forthcoming Megastar Man of the Decade Awards (MMTDA) 2025.
According to the organisers, Imasuen was selected for his “superior legislative representation and consistent advocacy for grassroots development,” which has significantly impacted communities across Edo South.
In a letter co-signed by Adeniyi Ifetayo, Executive Producer of the awards, and Seunmanuel Faleye, Chairman of the awards committee, Imasuen’s recognition followed a rigorous screening process that evaluated excellence in legislative performance, community impact, and advocacy for inclusiveness in governance.
The letter stated: “Through your effective combination of national legislative advocacy with local empowerment programmes, you have ensured that the people of Edo South feel the tangible impact of representation beyond Abuja politics. Beyond the legislative chamber, your grassroots interventions have fostered social inclusion, created opportunities for youth and women, and advanced the cause of participatory governance in Edo State.”
The 2025 ceremony, themed “Building Tomorrow Together”, will take place on 17 October at The Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments, Abuja. It will feature former EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, as keynote speaker, while Channels TV’s Geffery Uzono and award-winning broadcaster Monique D’Vibe will serve as co-hosts. The event will be broadcast live on Channels TV to a global audience, drawing political leaders, captains of industry, innovators, and cultural icons.
Past editions of the awards have honoured eminent Nigerians such as Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, Governor Abdullahi Sule, Chief Mike Adenuga, Chief Dele Momodu, and Stephanie Busari.
In addition to recognising distinguished personalities, the MMTDA will also launch a corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at renovating under-resourced public schools across Nigeria. The project will focus on modernising classrooms, providing clean water and sanitary facilities, and equipping schools with essential furniture to create a conducive learning environment for children in underserved communities.
For Senator Imasuen, the award underscores his growing reputation as a champion of grassroots representation, one whose legislative advocacy and community-driven interventions are shaping development at the heart of Edo South.
