A serving police sergeant has been arrested after a robbery suspect confessed that he supplied the AK-47 rifle used in an armed attack in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, where gunmen shot at a victim and stole his motorcycle on January 24, 2026.

The suspect was apprehended after a joint pursuit by police, vigilantes, and hunters, with seven shell casings recovered at the scene.

He sustained injuries during the chase and later admitted the weapon was provided by a sergeant attached to Daudu Division in Benue State, who has since been detained as investigations continue and efforts are underway to arrest other gang members and recover the stolen motorcycle.
