Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos to lead the country’s delegation at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), a key global economic gathering scheduled from January 19 to 23, 2026.
The Vice President touched down on Sunday, arriving from Conakry, Guinea, where he represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidential inauguration of Guinea’s leader. Upon his arrival in Switzerland, Shettima was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and officials of the Nigerian mission in Switzerland.
This year’s forum marks a milestone for Nigeria with the official debut of “Nigeria House Davos” the country’s first sovereign pavilion on the prestigious Davos Promenade. Developed through a public-private partnership, the facility will serve as a central hub for ministerial engagements, investment roundtables, and cultural diplomacy throughout the week.
Vice President Shettima is expected to present Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to world leaders, investors, and business executives. He will also take part in high-level plenary sessions on cutting-edge global issues such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology.
In addition to plenaries, Shettima’s schedule includes bilateral meetings with heads of state, CEOs of major corporations, and leaders of international finance institutions aimed at deepening strategic partnerships in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
Shortly after his arrival, Dr. Oduwole told journalists that Nigeria House will spotlight key sectors including solid minerals, climate-sustainable agriculture, creative industries, and the digital economy showcasing investment opportunities under ongoing economic reforms.
The enhanced Nigerian presence at Davos reflects the country’s renewed push to attract global investments and strengthen its role in international economic discourse.
