Akwa Ibom State has been thrust into turmoil following a deeply unsettling video released by Jane Edidiong-Ufot, daughter of Governor Umo Eno and serving Senior Special Assistant on Health, Safety and Environment. In the emotional footage, which has since gone viral, Ms Edidiong-Ufot made grave allegations, accusing her father and unnamed individuals of orchestrating a plot to end her life and that of her young daughter.
The video, which has ignited widespread speculation across the State and beyond, sees Jane tearfully claiming that her mother, the late Pastor Patience Eno, and two of her brothers did not die of natural causes as previously believed. Pastor Patience Eno passed away in September 2024, with the cause of death officially recorded as natural. However, Jane’s remarks suggest otherwise.
“I am not a sacrifice! Mummy was! I am not!” she cried in the video, visibly distressed. Her words have been interpreted by many as an accusation that her family members were victims of foul play, stirring concerns about the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
In one particularly chilling segment of the video, she declared: “If I die today or my daughter dies, I can live with that. But my blood will not go scot-free. Do you want them to die like my brother died? Like my baby brother died? Ask him!” Though she did not name her father directly in this passage, the context and accompanying commentary have led many to conclude that the Governor himself is being implicated.
Despite the danger, Jane appeared defiant, stating that she had deliberately made the video public and shared it widely in an effort to prevent any attempt at a cover-up. “Don’t worry, I’ve posted this everywhere,” she added.
As of the time of publication, there has been no official statement from Governor Umo Eno or his administration addressing the video or the allegations contained within it. Pressure is mounting, however, with citizens and commentators alike calling for transparency and an independent investigation.
The situation continues to evolve, with many now demanding answers about what really befell members of the Eno family.
