Unconfirmed reports have it that, the management of Npower programme has proposed a significant increase in the stipend payment for beneficiaries of the renewed Hope Npower SkillUp Nigeria program.
The proposed stipend payment is set to increase from the current amount of N30,000 to a unified payment of between N50,000 to N60,000.
The Minister in charge of the program noted that the proposed increase in stipend payment was necessary due to the current economic situation in the country. She further stated that the program management is currently waiting for an agreement on the new minimum wage before implementing the new payment structure.
It is worth noting that the Npower program was introduced by the Federal Government to address the high rate of unemployment in the country by providing skills development and job opportunities for youths.
With the proposed increase in stipend payment, it is hoped that more young Nigerians will be motivated to join the program and take advantage of the skill development opportunities it presents.
