Soludo Declares APGA’s Backing for Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Polls

In a political move likely to reshape alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections, Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has declared that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Speaking during President Tinubu’s visit to Anambra on Thursday, 8 May, the governor revealed that APGA would align itself with Tinubu’s leadership and back his candidacy under a broader progressive agenda. The announcement was made at a public event held at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.

“Progressives are working together,” Soludo said, affirming a closer collaboration between APGA and the All Progressives Congress (APC). He added that both parties are rooted in shared progressive ideals and would cooperate moving forward.

The declaration is seen as a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape, with APGA—traditionally a regional party in the South-East—throwing its weight behind the incumbent president from the APC. The development signals potential new alignments as political parties begin strategising for 2027.
