Speeding Motorcyclist Killed in Fiery Crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A motorcyclist has lost his life in a fatal accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after crashing into a culvert while riding at high speed.

The tragic incident occurred on the night of Friday, 20 March 2025, in front of the NNPC Filling Station in Ibafo, Ogun State. According to a statement from the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the rider, who was on a yellow Quic motorcycle of unknown registration, lost control and slammed into the roadside structure.

The force of the collision ignited the motorcycle, which was completely consumed by fire. Emergency responders, including officers from the Motor Traffic Department (MTD) of the Ibafo Police Division, swiftly arrived at the scene to manage the situation.

The victim’s remains have since been taken to the mortuary at Real Divine Hospital in Ibafo, while the charred motorcycle has been moved to the police station for further investigation by the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO).

In response to the incident, the Ogun State Police Command has reiterated the importance of adhering to speed limits and road safety regulations, urging motorcyclists to exercise caution to prevent further loss of life on the roads.
