The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has officially announced the sighting of the crescent moon, marking the conclusion of the sacred month of Ramadan. In a statement released on Saturday, March 29, 2025, the Sultan, who also serves as the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), confirmed that Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated across Nigeria on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

The sighting of the moon ushers in the month of Shawwal, the tenth month in the Islamic calendar, and signals the end of Ramadan — a period dedicated to fasting, spiritual reflection, and heightened devotion to prayer. Muslims across the country will now prepare to celebrate the joyous occasion with prayers, festive gatherings, and acts of charity.
