The distinguished monarch pointed out that Nigeria’s predicament lies not in the absence of ideas or solutions to address its issues, but rather in the execution of the solutions that have been identified.
He shared these insights during a session held in Kaduna, where the Northern Traditional Rulers Council and the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) convened to discuss strategies for delivering vaccines to inaccessible communities in the North West region.
The Sultan underscored the significance of good health in driving progress within a nation. He stressed that a nation cannot make advancements if its populace is not in good health.
He further assured attendees that the traditional institution remains committed to supporting the immunization of children against diseases that can be prevented through vaccines.
During the event, the World Health Organisation (WHO) highlighted the ongoing challenge posed by the inaccessibility of communities in the North West region due to security issues.
This inaccessibility has been a major hindrance to Nigeria’s pursuit of Universal Health Coverage. The WHO revealed that a significant proportion (92%) of the new cases of the Circulating Variant Polio Virus type 2 (cVPV2) reported between January and August 2023 were concentrated in these affected areas.
These concerns were addressed during the strategic meeting, where representatives from the Northern Traditional Rulers Council and the NPHCDA convened to explore strategies for effectively delivering vaccines to remote communities in the North West region.
