Nigeria’s Super Eagles have stepped up preparations for their Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final showdown against Algeria, departing Fès for Marrakech amid assurances that all outstanding player allowances have been fully settled.

The team travelled on Thursday as focus intensifies ahead of Saturday’s high-stakes encounter, a fixture widely seen as one of the tournament’s standout ties. The move to Marrakech places the Super Eagles closer to the match venue and allows the technical crew to fine-tune tactics without distraction.

Confirming a major off-pitch concern has been resolved, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, disclosed that all outstanding allowances owed to players and officials have now been cleared. The confirmation is expected to lift morale within the camp and ensure total concentration on the task ahead.

“The welfare of our athletes is non-negotiable,” Dikko said, stressing that administrative issues would not be allowed to undermine Nigeria’s quest for continental glory.

The Super Eagles have impressed with their resilience and tactical discipline so far in the competition, blending defensive solidity with moments of attacking flair. Their progress to the quarter-finals has renewed optimism among fans, many of whom believe the team is well-positioned to challenge for the title.

Algeria, however, present a formidable obstacle. The North Africans boast experience, depth and a history of rising to the occasion in knockout matches, setting the stage for a tense and closely fought contest.
