Anuoluwapo Opeyori has made Nigeria proud by winning the country’s first gold medal at the ongoing African Games in Ghana. He emerged victorious in the badminton final after defeating his compatriot, Godwin Olofua on Sunday evening.
Opeyori showed great skill and determination as he came from behind to book his place in the final and then went on to win the match 2-1.
In the semi-finals, he also defeated Egypt’s Ahdam Abdelhalim, despite having to come from a game behind. Opeyori’s victory in the singles final was truly remarkable, and he will now team up with Olofua for the doubles final in the hopes of winning another gold medal for Nigeria.
