Grief has engulfed the family of Hon. Aondona Dajoh, the immediate past Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, following the sudden death of his elder brother, Elder Gwamile Dajoh.
Elder Gwamile reportedly slumped and died on Sunday, barely hours after his younger brother tendered his resignation as Speaker of the Assembly.
Though details remain sketchy, family sources revealed that the late elder statesman had been visibly worried over the political crisis rocking the House before his unexpected passing.
His death coincided with the dramatic leadership change in the Assembly, which saw Hon. Alfred Berger emerge as the new Speaker during an emergency plenary session convened shortly after Hon. Dajoh’s resignation.
The twin developments have cast a pall of sorrow and shock across Benue political circles, with many describing the tragedy as a heavy blow to the Dajoh family.
