A young man, Chikwado Eze, has reportedly passed away after undergoing a controversial spiritual fortification ritual, aimed at ensuring his success abroad.
The incident, which has left the community in shock, occurred when Chikwado followed advice from his father to undergo a ritual process suggested by a local native doctor.
Uptown Press gathered that, Chikwado had recently received a visa to travel abroad and was preparing for a new chapter in his life.
In high spirits, he returned to his hometown in Enugu to share the good news with his father. However, what should have been a moment of celebration soon took a dark turn when his father recommended they visit a native doctor to perform a fortification ritual.
The father reportedly believed that such a process would ensure Chikwado’s success and protect him from potential misfortunes abroad.
The native doctor allegedly proposed a spiritual procedure that required Chikwado to be buried alive for one hour and thirty minutes, after which he would be exhumed and would emerge fortified for his journey. Trusting the process, Chikwado agreed, and the ritual was carried out.
Eyewitnesses say that after Chikwado was buried, they anxiously awaited the prescribed time to dig him up. However, when the moment came to exhume him after one hour and thirty minutes, they were met with a horrifying discovery: Chikwado was no longer alive.
Panic ensued as those present realised the ritual had gone terribly wrong. The family rushed to revive Chikwado, but all efforts to resuscitate him proved futile.
Effort to get comment from Enugu Police command on the incident proved abortive as calls made to the PPRO did not go through. The network kept saying: “The number you have dialed is not available at the moment, please try again later.”
