The Child Protection Unit of the Nigeria Police Force in Imo State is investigating the suspected murder of a maid, following a violent confrontation over television use. The incident, which occurred in the Nigeria’s southeastern region, has left local authorities and residents shaken.
According to SP Henry Okoye, spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, the details surrounding the case remain unclear, though initial reports suggest the victim was attacked by her sister-in-law after a dispute over television watching escalated.
The maid, who had been watching television with the woman’s children, was reportedly confronted by the nursing mother. The source, who wished to remain anonymous, explained that the woman had previously warned the maid about her excessive television watching. However, the maid allegedly disregarded the warning, leading to a heated argument.
In an extreme reaction, the sister-in-law allegedly struck the maid, resulting in her tragic death. Following the incident, the woman was arrested and is now in police custody. The victim’s body has been taken to the morgue.
Police investigations are ongoing, and further details will be released as the inquiry progresses.
