Two armed robbery suspects, who invaded a building in Awoyaya area of Lagos and, at gun point, dispossessed its occupant, one James John Ushahemba, of his Toyota Corolla car, three phones and the sum of N30,000 (Thirty thousand naira), have been arrested in Iperu-Remo, Ogun State.
The suspects, Kenneth Akpan and Adebayo Michael had, at about 1:30am on December 20, 2021, paid a brisk but vicious visit on the victim’s abode, and committed the alleged criminal act.
They consequently bolted in their victim’s 2008 model of Toyota Corolla car and other loots.
Having successfully made it to Iperu in Ogun State, apparently with the thought of being free from any form of encumbrances, particularly from security agents, and to continue on their journey unhindered, they reportedly made for a mechanic workshop on Iperu/Ogere Road, to fix the car.
While at the said workshop, a security conscious and vigilant member the society suspected the car to have been stolen and swiftly informed police detectives attached to Iperu Division of the development.
According to the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a press release, ”Upon the information, the DPO quickly mobilized his men to the scene and the two suspects were arrested, and the car, with registration number MUS 599 GV, was recovered”.
The operatives, through the car documents, contacted the owner, James John Ushahemba, who raced to the station and wrote a statement on how the hoodlums attacked and robbed him at gun point.
The state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole has, however, directed that a preliminary investigation be conducted by his men, while ordering that the case be transferred to the Lagos State Police Command, the scene of crime, for further investigation and prosecution.
