In a rousing homecoming that drew thousands to Etsako Central Local Government Area, Edo State, Hon. Joseph Ayegbeni Ugheoke, Executive Director of Commercial and Environmental Development at the South South Development Commission (SSDC), pledged what he called his “beyond extraordinary solidarity” with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The event, held in Ugheoke’s hometown, turned into a carnival of colour and unity as traditional rulers, youth groups, women’s associations and political allies thronged the venue to honour one of their own.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, Ugheoke lauded President Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as a symbol of courage and progress.
“President Tinubu has shown courage and determination in steering our nation toward progress. My solidarity with him is not ordinary but extraordinary. His leadership is a beacon of hope for our people, and I stand firmly with him in this journey of national renewal,” he declared.
Supporters hailed Ugheoke as a “bridge between the South South and the Presidency”, while community leaders praised his humility and accessibility despite his growing national role.
The SSDC executive used the occasion to unveil his commitment to transformative projects across the region. These include new road and transport infrastructure to connect rural and urban centres, power and environmental projects such as solar mini-grids and erosion control, as well as commercial empowerment initiatives to support small businesses and promote youth entrepreneurship.
“The SSDC under our mandate and headed by Ms Usoro Akpabio will deliver life-changing projects. Edo State and the entire South South will feel the impact of this administration,” Ugheoke assured.
He urged the people of Edo and the wider South South region to rally behind President Tinubu’s vision.
“My solidarity with President Tinubu is for my people — for Edo, for the South South, and for Nigeria at large. Together, we will build a legacy of prosperity that future generations will celebrate,” he said.
The ceremony ended with jubilant drumming, dancing and chants, underscoring what supporters described as Ugheoke’s steadfast loyalty to both the President and his people — unwavering, extraordinary and deeply rooted in grassroots solidarity.
