Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja after successfully representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, USA.
In a statement released by Stanley Kingsley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of The Vice President), and shared with Uptown Press, it was disclosed that Shettima’s participation at the General Assembly yielded positive outcomes for Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives.
During the event, the Vice President delivered Nigeria’s National Statement during the General Debate, emphasizing the country’s commitment to sustainable development, regional security, and global cooperation.
In addition to this key address, he engaged in a series of bilateral meetings with world leaders, aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations and attracting foreign investment to Nigeria.
Shettima also took part in numerous sideline events, further advancing Nigeria’s strategic interests in areas such as climate change, economic development, and international partnerships.
The Vice President is expected to join President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja to participate in events commemorating Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary, which includes a range of celebrations and national programs.
This year’s UNGA marked Nigeria’s continued leadership role in global diplomacy, while also underscoring the country’s focus on achieving sustainable development goals and promoting peace and security within the West African region.
