Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, led mourners on Monday at the funeral of Alhaji Ahmed Ali Ahmed, the late Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development in Borno State.
The solemn event, which took place in Maiduguri, drew dignitaries, family members, and associates who gathered to pay their last respects to the esteemed public servant.
Alhaji Ahmed, who passed away in his sleep early Monday morning at the age of 42, was laid to rest after a funeral prayer led by the Chief Imam of Borno, Imam Laisu Ibrahim.
The late commissioner, who served the state with dedication, leaves behind a grieving family, including his wife, two children, an aged mother, and numerous siblings.
Until his untimely demise, Alhaji Ahmed had been an integral part of Governor Zulum’s administration, overseeing the state’s finance and economic development. Before his foray into politics, he had a distinguished career with Zenith Bank PLC, where he served for over 17 years, eventually rising to the rank of Deputy Manager.
The funeral was attended by a host of prominent figures, including the APC Deputy National Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori; Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan; Members of the House of Representatives; and the Borno APC Chairman, Bello Ayuba.
Also in attendance were members of the Borno State House of Assembly, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Bukar Tijani, and senior officials from the Borno State Executive Council.
In a show of respect and solidarity, the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Umar Garbai Elkanemi, along with the Waziri of Borno, Mutawali Shettima, and other members of the Borno Emirate Council, participated in the prayers and subsequent burial rites.
