A senior member of the Vikings cult group, known simply as Happy (left pic above), has been confirmed dead following a violent confrontation between rival cult factions in Enerhen, near Warri, Delta State. Happy, who only recently ascended to the position of executioner and reportedly became the number one man within the group last Friday, was killed in a retaliatory attack on Saturday.
Uptown Press gathered that a deadly clash erupted on Friday night at the popular Enerhen Junction when a confrontation broke out between members of the Dominion and Vikings cult groups. Witnesses said Dominion cultists were drinking at a local spot when two Vikings leaders passed by and allegedly shone a torchlight on them — a gesture that was perceived as provocative. An altercation ensued, and the Vikings members left, only to return later to attack the Dominion group, reportedly injuring one of them in the hand.
Events spiralled out of control later that night, with Dominion members allegedly retaliating by killing a Vikings member at the same location. In what appeared to be a swift reprisal, the Vikings launched another assault, killing a Dominion member identified as Shege Shege.
Naija Confra, confirmed that the confrontation, which has now claimed at least two lives, was triggered by the seemingly minor act of “shining of torchlight,” though underlying tensions may have been simmering for months. A Vikings member recounted that tensions initially flared months ago after a Dominion member reportedly assaulted the girlfriend of the Vikings’ current leader.
Despite the escalating violence, there has been no official statement from the Delta State Police Command at the time of filing this report.
Further reports indicate that another Vikings member, identified as Michael, is currently in a coma, with unconfirmed sources suggesting he may have succumbed to his injuries. On the Dominion side, in addition to Shege Shege’s death, a notorious member named Ogbogri was seriously injured in the clash.
Residents have expressed growing concern over the resurgence of cult-related violence in the area, calling on security agencies to intervene and restore calm.
As of press time, the Delta State police command has not issued any official statement on the incident. They, however, urged to intensify surveillance and arrest those behind the killings as fears of further retaliation continue to grip Enerhen and surrounding communities.
