The State government says it has expended fifty-seven point six billion naira on roads construction since the assumption of power in 2015.
Out of the amount fifty three billion naira has been certified for payment on the completed roads while mobilization funds have been advanced to contractors executing ongoing projects.
The State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ladan disclosed this today while briefing newsmen on the publication carried out by Guardian Newspaper on 19th of February alleging that three hundred and seventy six billion naira was spent on roads construction by the state government.
The state commissioner for works and transport said he has never met the journalist as the story was concocted and the journalist was invited to his office who agreed that there was an error in said publication promising to retract the story with real situation only to discover that the said journalist retraced the story on social media opposing blame, to political opposition party.
To this end Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ladan further directed the journalist to retract the story on the same guardian newspaper within forty eight hours or face the wrath of the law.
Commenting on the allege sale of Ahmadu Bello Interntional Aiport the Commissioner disclosed that the Airport is only been taken over by the Federal Government which has an exclusive right on aviation matters.
Abubakar Chika Ladan further explained that the Federal Government before the take over will refund the State Government the sum of Sixteen Billion Naira expended for the construction which President Muhammadu Buhari has already approved the said amount for the reimbursement.
Similarly the state commissioner of work said following persistent appeals by Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu the Koko – Mahuta – Dabai Road was awarded by the federal government at the cost nineteen billion naira explaining that the contracting company will soon mobilize to site.
