A suspected internet fraudster, known locally as a ‘Yahoo boy’, has been arrested in Agwan Sarki Orozo, a village near Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, after his girlfriend’s severed head was discovered in a polythene bag.
Security personnel, acting on a tip-off, raided an uncompleted building in the area, where they made the shocking discovery. The man, whose name has not been disclosed, allegedly confessed to the crime and led authorities to the location of the rest of the victim’s body at his home.
The chilling incident has left the Orozo community in deep shock, with residents struggling to comprehend the brutal nature of the act. Comrade Abwami Nuhuson Daniel, the Secretary of the Orozo community, took to Facebook to express his disbelief, sharing his horror at witnessing such a crime unfold in his neighbourhood.
“I always thought I would only see such things in films, but today it happened right in my community,” Daniel wrote.
While further details are yet to emerge, the case has prompted concerns about the sinister links between internet fraud and ritualistic killings, with residents fearing a dark undercurrent of crime that continues to plague the area. Local authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
