Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has delivered a stark anti-corruption warning to 19 newly sworn-in commissioners and board members, declaring his administration has “zero tolerance” for graft.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony at Government House in Benin City, the governor made it clear that appointments were based on merit alone and cautioned officials against treating their roles as opportunities for personal gain.

“You are not here for money-making, but for service, for sacrifice, and for a better life for Edo people,” Gov Okpebholo told the appointees. “Your appointment is not for personal enrichment.”

The ceremony, attended by Deputy Governor Rt Hon Dennis Idahosa and Attorney-General of the Federation Chief Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), saw the governor emphasise that the posts were “not rewards or patronage, but a call to serve”.

Gov Okpebholo said his administration would focus on “service delivery and tangible results” rather than propaganda, warning that history would judge officials “not by our intentions, but by our actions”.

He demanded discipline, teamwork and loyalty to Edo’s citizens as his government works to “rebuild and reposition” the state for sustainable growth.

Speaking for the new appointees, Hon Ebea Festus Odianonsen pledged full commitment to the governor’s vision, promising to help deliver effective governance and political stability.
