A ₦100 million federal government project earmarked in the 2024 budget for the provision of boreholes in selected areas of Albasu/Gaya/Ajingi Federal Constituency, Kano State, has been left unattended.

During a project tracking exercise at Gaya Kudu (South) community, residents confirmed that no new borehole has been installed this year despite the allocation. They disclosed that the only functional borehole in the area was drilled in 2020, with no fresh intervention since then.

Community members expressed frustration over the non-implementation, stressing that access to clean water remains a major challenge.

The Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), the implementing agency, has been urged to give a full account of the ₦100m project and take urgent steps to deliver on its mandate.
