1,300 NSCDC Personnel Deployed Ahead of Edo Local Government Election

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Edo State Command, has deployed 1,300 personnel across the state’s three senatorial districts to ensure adequate security before, during and after Saturday’s local government election slated for July 11th,2026.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ogbebor Efosa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, saying the deployment is aimed at protecting lives, property and critical national assets throughout the electoral process.

He said the State Commandant, Akintayo Ayinla, assured residents that the command is fully prepared to carry out its constitutional responsibility by providing a safe and peaceful environment for the election.

The command appealed to political parties, candidates, supporters and other stakeholders to comply with electoral laws, avoid violence and any form of electoral malpractice, and conduct themselves peacefully during the exercise.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to working with other security agencies to ensure the election is peaceful, free, fair and credible across the state.

Residents were encouraged to come out and vote without fear, as adequate security has been put in place to guarantee their safety throughout the election.

The deployment forms part of security measures ahead of the Edo State local government election, where political parties will contest chairmanship and councillorship seats across the state’s 18 local government areas.
