The Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that visas have been approved for the intending pilgrims from the state for the 2026 Hajj exercise, signaling a major milestone in the preparation process. The development was disclosed during a recent briefing by the board’s leadership, where officials expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded so far. Chairman of the Board, Mallam Musa Muhammad Uduimoh, said the visa approval by Saudi Arabia reflects the board’s commitment to ensuring a seamless pilgrimage for Edo participants. According to him, “Preparations are ongoing, and we are making steady progress. The approval of visas for our intending pilgrims is a significant step forward, and it shows that we are on course for a successful Hajj exercise.” He added that the board would, in the coming weeks, commence screenings, comprehensive education and sensitisation programmes aimed at guiding pilgrims on the spiritual, health, and logistical requirements of the pilgrimage. Uduimoh emphasized that the sensitisation efforts are designed to equip pilgrims with the necessary knowledge to ensure compliance with Hajj rites and international travel protocols. Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Eranga Abdulkabir Muhammadkabir, urged intending pilgrims and the general public to remain patient and prayerful, particularly given uncertainties in the Middle East. He said, “This Hajj 2026, if you are an intending pilgrim from Edo State, do not grieve if you did not make the list of prospective participants. And if you were shortlisted, remain hopeful but cautious, as the situation in the Middle East is still uncertain. Ultimately, only Allah knows what will happen. May Allah grant us what is best,” The board reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all Edo pilgrims, assuring that necessary arrangements are being put in place to ensure a hitch-free and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage.
