Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed to fiercely protect his votes in the 2027 general election, declaring that he is prepared to risk his life rather than allow the will of voters to be undermined.
Obi made the declaration on Thursday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, during a town hall meeting with voters tagged “Obi Talks Nigeria.”
Fielding questions on the 2027 presidential contest, the former Anambra State governor said the era of intimidation must end, insisting that Nigerians must be determined to protect the integrity of their votes.
“Nobody will intimidate us again,” Obi declared, signalling a tougher stance ahead of the 2027 election.
He said he was ready to make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that votes freely cast by Nigerians are properly protected and counted.
Obi’s remarks come as political parties and presidential hopefuls intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, with electoral integrity, voter mobilisation and the protection of the ballot expected to dominate the political debate.
The NDC candidate urged Nigerians to remain resolute and actively participate in the democratic process, stressing that the power to determine the country’s leadership ultimately rests with the electorate.
